create a Security Advisory Counsel from Private Sector
There are many excellent sources of knowledge in these United States from the private sector. I have respect for those individuals and rely heavily on their publications, blogs, books, symposiums in order to be effective at my job as a security professional. There are persons in this beautiful country such as Professor Randy Pausch who are passionate. Some of us security professionals are passionate about what they do to protect and server their customers and clients. A panel of such brilliance from the private sector, would provide voices into shoring up defenses -- where private sector meets public and we…

my.gov (Brian McConnell's outline of Google for Government)
"a personalized front end for government services. Think “Amazon for government,” where a vast array of products and data is personalized and displayed in simplified form. Many people view the government, the federal government specifically, as a remote entity that imposes taxes and provides little tangible benefit in return... What I would like to see is my.gov, where I can go to get a snapshot view of government services I use or for which I am eligible."

Generate oversight for the peer review system
What happens when two groups of qualified scientists disagree on fundamental scientific principles? What happens when research is rejected because it casts doubt upon the prior work of the peer reviewer? Who with authority is actively scanning the "fringe sciences" in an attempt to discover scientific talent that's been obstructed from publication because their new paradigm is too unconventional?
In the history of science, it's clear that many ideas that were once considered heretical are now common knowledge. Sometimes, these people are blocked from being published in peer review journals due to institutional or ethical issues. If we know that…

Make energy independence within 10 years a national priority
We lead the world in technology. What powers our technology? Energy! One of the reasons we have been a world leader in technology is because we have had inexpensive sources of energy.
By developing new technology for sustainable and renewable sources of energy, we gain independence from the whims of those who would manipulate our economy by limiting our access to traditional carbon-based sources of energy. The influence of small groups of people, who seek to control the bulk of the world’s energy sources, shrinks as we shift to the technology of renewable sources of energy. Their influence on world…

Use Web 2.0 intelligently
1) Use Web 2.0 to communicate with the public and start discussions
2) Use Web 2.0 to make policy - announce new regulatory efforts in blogs, YouTube, etc.; conduct conversation using wikis, webinars, etc.; broadcast new policies using social media
3) Open access to Web 2.0 Many federal agencies today still block their employees from using these tools for their work, meaning there's no learning going on about how to use them.7 votes -

Let the Obama (not Bush), and US, Iraq decide on the tropps
Please let the B. Obama administration work with the Iraqi people to decide the fate of the US troops. There is no need to rush a deal before Bush leaves office. He has had eight long years to make this deal and does not deserve the right to make the decision.

Create Americorps-type "IT Corps"
Work with educational institutions, The Corporation for National Service and nonprofit organizations to form a "TechCorp" so that young IT professionals can offer their talents to enhance and enrich community life through technology support, development and innovation.
For one year service, provide a similar grant/loan forgiveness package like Americorps currently offers.
If applicant services two years---provide additional training and offer incentives for them to earn advance applicant status similar to veterans status for government jobs. Building this corps over the next decade, use these folks to to replace government IT contractor services--- which are inevitably overpriced and often under-deliver.
