  1. Require companies to allow legal purchasers of their digitally distributed works (music files, movies, ebooks, etc.) to facilitate the transfer of those rights to another individual through a sale or gift.

For example, the purchaser of a book from a digital book store should be able to legally sell the ebook file the same way he would be entitled to sell a physical copy of the book had he purchased a physical copy of the book at a store. Companies that use DRM to protect their works should be required to facilitate a transfer of their usage rights to another…

  2. Ray Kuzweil is a leading inventor, business man, investor, and futurist. He understands exponential change like few others do.

Kurzweil could help get our technology and science policy back on track. He has made his money by being able to see where tech will be and start working on the software side way before the hardware is ready. His most recent invention is a reader for the blind the size of a cell phone.

Please read a bit of his book The Singularity is Near.

  3. Too many people comment one way or the other on the current US patent system without having a fundamental understanding of how it works, the benefits it brings in allowing for reinvestment in the economy and the elements within it that could be streamlined to make the system work better.

  7. Propose a Constitutional Amendment which would explicitly guarantee freedom of exchange and communication, instead of grandfathering in these protections through the freedom of speech protections. Would prevent abuses of information technology, like the widespread warrantless wiretap programs which the government has recently used which isn't prevented by the Constitution. Might not pass but would bring high-level attention to the issue, especially if it was supported at the highest levels.

  8. Car makers are in the news today, especially
    General Motors.

The company appears to be on the verge of running
out of money. It's likely to go bankrupt without
    government intervention.

Apparently, two million jobs are tied in one
way or another to GM. Not only that, but countless
billions of dollars in bonds too

One of the ideas is to give GM money for "innovation."

The truth is there's been a lot of innovation in
car making in the last ten years.

The only problem is none of it has shown up on
the production floor. Why the disconnect?

  10. So many suggestions here have high costs associated with them. It's always nice to vote with "other people's money" but any CTO needs to realize that the American People pay for any program and NEEDS should be considered but WANTS should be immediately discarded.

  20. Instead of wasting money on dumb nerd program things, I perpose Presedent Obama should make surplus jobs building and maintaining public dirt tracks. Not to mention; local hospitals would recive much surplus buisness.
