  3. A "market place of ideas" is the fundamental requirement for a working democratic system but if the media is all owned by a few companies, then no matter how many channels there are they represent only a few viewpoints. We need to breakup Fox and Sony and others and create more "Viewpoints" from which we can get information.

  9. Too many people comment one way or the other on the current US patent system without having a fundamental understanding of how it works, the benefits it brings in allowing for reinvestment in the economy and the elements within it that could be streamlined to make the system work better.

  11. Car makers are in the news today, especially
    General Motors.

The company appears to be on the verge of running
out of money. It's likely to go bankrupt without
    government intervention.

Apparently, two million jobs are tied in one
way or another to GM. Not only that, but countless
billions of dollars in bonds too

One of the ideas is to give GM money for "innovation."

The truth is there's been a lot of innovation in
car making in the last ten years.

The only problem is none of it has shown up on
the production floor. Why the disconnect?

  16. Want to infuse capital into the system? Create a 90 day, one-time window to let people pay off their mortgages from their retirement accounts. The banks will have more liquidity than they know what to do with.

  17. I spent 4 years in Camp Lejuene, NC, had to go to the base hospital a few times, and it was always empty, like a ghost town. Meanwhile, thousands of vets can't get care in the VA Hospital system. Why not make military hospitals available to vets too?

  19. Adopt the Electronic Frontier Foundation's Innovation Agenda as proposed November 11, 2008, at http://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2008/11/innovation-agenda.

    That is,

    1. Repair the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). Eliminate the ability of copyright holders to get statutory damages for noncommercial violations of copyright laws. Require proof of actual damages prior to any award based on copyright liability. Raise the requirements for content owners to receive preliminary injunctions against technologies in copyright cases. Congress should pass the FAIR USE Act and the Orphan Works Act.

    2. Reform the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (PTO), emphasizing its role to promote, rather than impede, innovation. Patents, by constitutional…
