Make programming part of a standard grade school education.
In the Internet age, computer programming should be a basic skill, like literacy and algebra. For didactic purposes, I recommend an emphasis on C, Perl, and Javascript.

Reduce NASA costs by encouraging corporate sponsorship
Let's open the space program to corporate sponsorship - we could save billions of tax dollars by allowing companies to sponsor space suits (Nike?), tools (Stanley, Dewalt?), or anything else involved in space flights. Spacecraft are large and could fit lots of ads think of sport stadiums, NASCAR, BASS.

Kick Start large-scale Data Center industry in the Dakotas
South Dakota has abundundant wind power, free cooling much of the year, plenty of inexpensive land, is centrally located in the US and geographically distant enough to be a great business continuity site for most US businesses. The federal government could lead the way by building its next data center there, mapping out a large-scale plan and offering incentives to companies pursuing efficiency by relocating data centers from warmer climates.

Assist local governments in moving toward e-government
As important as the application of information technology is at the national level, because of the proximity of local governments--particularly cities and counties--to citizens, there is enormous potential for IT applications both to government and to governance at the local level. Notwithstanding the responsibilities of states in this area, the fact that we now will have a technology savvy president and a CTO at the national level will bring a much needed impetus to the transition to e-government at all levels, especially if Obama's CTO focuses on it. This is also an infrastructure issue in terms of equal and easy…

CTO by consistent decision criteria based on Obama priority
Lead by establishing consistient decision making criteria to be used by CTO decision makers (and by reviewers of the decisions - quality/improvement). The criteria should be based on Obama Policy & priorities, enabling consistent and sustainable decision making for Technology initiatives in support of, and directly porportional to Mr. Omaba's Policy goals and Priorities. If the CTO is able to collaborate with Mr. Obama to establish such criteria, they could be used to create transparency in the process, increase participation, and in effect empower "the franchising of Mr. Obama's priorities" - so greater collaboration is possible, yet Mr. Obama's ability…

distribute tech jobs across the US/Not just the DCA Beltway
Ensure technology jobs are created across the US and NOT confine the job positions to the Beltway and historical technology hotbeds. This would provide a broad spectrum of technology uses for improving the environment.

100% disabled veterans and spouse excempt property tax
The federal veterans administration has it written that the home must be in the name of the veteran. There are situations in second marriages where the home is in the spouse's name. These veteran's are not getting the property excemption in Florida. And the care-giving wife will not even get the excemption after the husband dies. This needs to be changed . Don't you think this is unfair.

Spend US infrastructure $$ on a National Railway
President Lincoln used the building of the Transcontinental Railroad to unite the nation during the Civil War. Eisenhower gave us the Interstate system after the WII. A National Light Rail System would not only bring the country together, but provide much needed jobs.
Rail travel is so much less stressful than driving in traffice or flying with today's security protocols.
We need better public transit. With a growing population, skyrocketing oil prices, and balooning urban centers that are more and more separated from 'bedroom districts', we need an alternative to the congested highway system. Current rail systems (Amtrak) gives too…

larger trashcans on the national mall for the inaguration
The trashcans on the National Mall have got to be the smallest I have ever seen in a National Monument. At the end of the day, trash cans are literally overflowing with garbage. After the 4th of July, the Mall is littered with trash. How embarrassing for our Nation's Capitol. We need larger trashcans on the National Mall.

Protect privacy online, and across databases
Privacy means the right against unsanctioned invasion of privacy by the government, corporations or individuals, and should be protected with laws.
Personal details of any kind, including medical, financial, or political information should be accessed, communicated and traded with utmost discretion to avoid fraud and identity theft, government surveillance, and corporate exploitation.
As technology has advanced, the way in which privacy is protected and violated has changed with it. Generally the increased ability to gather and send information has had negative implications for retaining privacy.
This is the time to enhance existing privacy protections!
