  4. As a nation, we need to be able to check the validity of the source of our information. As an Information Scientist, I provide training to State Department diplomats on how to find "verifible and accurate" information. As an aunt, I hear too many kids say they accept the information because it was found on the Internet, but most don't know how to evaluate a website. Finally, hire me to help the Obama Administration. I have more ideas.

  5. Have been in the Federal Governments IT division for over 10 years now, and find it VERY difficult to communicate with people who dont have the foggiest idea what I am talking about when I am relating to IT matters. I think it is VITALLY important that the newly appointed CTO have a broad range of knowledge, skills and abilities as they relate to IT and some of the issues that it may entail; therefore, I am of the belief that it will take someone with more knowledge of IT than just being able to power on a PC.

  8. Information technology is today where manufacturing was in the early 20th century. The opportunity for computer exploitation for human benefit has barely begun to be tapped. America needs it's youth to start taking it seriously and experimenting. Today's education gets them ready for Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Facebook. More intense high-school education will produce the next Bill Gates, Larry Eillisons and Steve Jobs.

  9. Leave those alone or free from persecution and prosecution those who download for fun or personal pleasure, very much like the days when we could all enjoy the taping of a favorite film or music to watch at home with a friend, with no worries. We bought the movie, tape, disc, book etc and loaned it out to a friend etc. It's the ones trying to selling the stuff, making a profit off, running a business that the RIAA et al should be concerned with not the individual that justs is curious for a few hours then probably discards it…

  10. we can do it again! Create a smallish car , I prefer a wagon, that is capable to run economically. Include road map directions as a regular accessory that have
    the shortist rout
    2. the highway or easiest route and the most optimal easy traffic routs that can be instantly accessed at all times when driving.
Go for it america! I know we can do it!

  14. I believe to get the economy going right away is to start an agressive urban repair program now. Simply put it means that before any rebuilding is started the first thing that is needed is to remove all garbage etc from the targareted areas. This process alone can employ thousands of people all across the country and get money into small businesses immediately. Starting at ground level as opposed to all the grand projects I firmly believe will have a immediate impact on starting up the economy.

  15. Vendor lock-in is a problem that costs companies and public institutions a great deal of money and manpower. this cost may not be apparent initially but when a technology solution does not involve open standards it not only means that the whole process relies on a single company or its products. This situation turns any process involving that product into a black box that cannot be opened or re-configured (legally) if needed by anyone other that the company or individual that created it. Open standards still allow companies to create products using the open standards and charge money for their…

  17. OK this is away for the world to see us do something and do it now. My idea is easy they would like to redo the Sear tower ,change it up a little. They would love to have the olimpics in Chicago. They would like to make more jobs for the working man and woman. Well here you go, Lets take the tallest building in the USA and turn it solar. If we could get all of the lights in that building working off solar power think of the energy we save. we could show how the solar panels pay…
