  2. As we step back and take a look at our failing economy we might ask ourselves "Why did this happen?" Many of our economic problems were due to credit companies granting credit/loans to people who have had bad credit and poor money management skill.
Instituting a mandatory money management class that would run the 10th thru 12th grade would teach students the value of having a good credit score and what to expect when they get their first credit card..
In order to graduate from high school students would need to demonstrate the ability to successfully manage a financial account.

  4. Well, it would honor him. Didn't he wear that NAVY baseball cap when he was campaigning? And, that would put him at least on a par with his famous father and grandfather who were admirals - a rank he never reached. In fact, it they were still alive, he would outrank them - he would be their boss!
Not bad for a guy who graduated fourth from the bottom of his class at the academy.
Then, when he retired, a carrier could be named after him. It should be an oil fired steam turbine vessel - fueled by oil from…

  5. Our government is the best that money can buy, literally. So long as it's "Government for the special interests, by the special interests, with an emotional crying game to the voters" we will experience a failed state era in 20 years...not that you'll care. You'll be long gone from Washington by then and will therefore be blame less. Ditto everyone in Congress.

My Fair Deal plan is simple - Remove the influence of special interests, dump the status quo tax system, and let the citizens decide for themselves how they want to live.

    1 - A regressive, flat income tax.…

  7. The Iraq War has cost us around $500 billion since it started in 2003. In that same time frame, our trade deficit with China has cost us over $1.1 trillion dollars, around twice the cost of the war. We cannot send over hundreds of billions of dollars a year to China and expect to have a healthy economy.

  8. Using technology in general throughout the
Obama Administration is a good idea,
but to really think, plan and act effectively,
the President should have a "cybernetician"
in the White House. Norbert Wiener and
Stafford Beer, where are you now that Osama
needs you? A "cyber-cto" should be on the
agenda, along with a special network and website dealing with all the cyber-related issues that will come up.

  10. I saw the republican representative in Germany trying to speak German and it was a disaster. Granted, the audience was not exactly pro-republican, but still. If the US had someone who could speak the language well I'm sure it would have made a better impression on the average person. Sound bites, etc. Making friends with the people we trade with is always smart.

  11. When volunteers in a non-profit organization perform services that are the same as, supplement or extend services provided by the Federal government then unrestricted donations to the non-profit organization ought to be treated as tax credits rather than income deductions. This would have the effect of shifting some services to the non-profit sector which can perform them cheaper through the use of volunteers. It should therefore reduce the cost and size of government. And it would tend to increase the capabilities of non-profits and bring even more volunteers to the fore. Of course the particpating agencies would have to be…

  14. We should put America to work with civil engineering jobs that build our infastructure. Drain the lands around Louisianna and bring it above water level and rebuild with the use of windmills as they do in the Netherlands.

  15. We should build a high speed rail system to connect all of our major cities. This will be a green alternative and put america back to work just like the (TVA) Tennesse Valley Authorizty did!! We should make all new construction have mandatory solar panels.

  18. How government manages information technology architecture has to be updated to the 21st century. The Federal government's Enterprise Architecture principles available here ...

    http://tinyurl.com/6ra8jl

need to be updated to reflect lower total cost of ownership and Obama's platform of a connected and transparent democracy.

  20. Shift the subsidies now given to corporate farms to emphasis on small farm operations. This would encourage these farmers to continue producing food rather that selling their land to subdividers.
