An error occurred while saving the comment Sll commentedAgreed that the government should use OSS (although Free software sounds too much like Stallman's crusade, and I really do hate his extremism on the matter). In addition to that, the government should use only open standards for A/V (AAC and H.264) and documents (ODF or OOXML and PDF).

An error occurred while saving the comment Sll commentedThis should be handled by the States, not the Federal government, it's the States that give us the right to vote in the first place (read the US constitution and then read your State's constitution, you'll see what I mean), so I'm going to have to disagree.

@Jeff, while I agree kids should have laptops, handing out laptops won't start any revolutions. Computers are just tools, and unless there's a fundamental change in our education system, no amount of technology in the world is going to help.
I'd add a 1 for the basic idea but I'm out of votes, heh.
