  3. It seems to me that you need an idea that will help to bring together all the peoples of the world to share your vision of hope and cooperation. A big part of the problem today is that we do not see the tools we need to build a better tomorrow. I would like share my vision of a tool that will help us to realize the shared dreams of humanity, empowering all peoples to build a better tomorrow.

The base concept is fairly simple, it is a democratic charity. The easiest way to understand it is to think of…

  7. Traditional government procurement standards are full of barriers that build complexity, transactions cost, and time into each process. The possible benefits of the complexity are extremely disproportionate to their cost, favor larger vendors who have a vested interest in perpetuating that complexity. This results in inhibiting innovation, and eroding the US's competitive position in the world as other countries leapfrog the US. We build large scale acquisitions that result in unmanageable contracts of 100's of millions of dollars when fairly inexpensive software solutions exist, or can be easily developed, The government would benefit from the shared cost of software development…

  9. Ensure that companies like Microsoft can not flood the market with their products and charge ridiculous prices for software just because they know everyone will need to purchase it. Microsoft's policies need to be examined. Just because a majority of the computing public uses their products, doesn't mean they should charge extreme prices to students and schools for their products.

  10. Using traditional pots for phone installs limits those locations (especially in rural areas) to dialup. Fiber can always be used for high speed bandwidth down the road.

  14. The greatest wealth the government can acquire is intellectual property which benefits the whole of society when it is free and open. I believe that the U.S. Government should hold a contest for the best technological innovation in renewable, clean, green energy production. Submissions are made not by individuals or companies but by colleges and university teams competing for a prize of 500 million dollars for their endowment funds. The government in return would gain the intellectual property right for the winning design/process. Imagine M.I.T., Stanford, Cal Berkley, Harvard, battling it out for a huge addition to their endowments. In…

  17. Consumers should be able to purchase packages from ISPs/Cable companies that transmit over the same grid or fiberoptic network, to allow direct competition that is not restricted by expensive infrastructure construction, which is a limiting factor for any new telcos.

This should help prevent monopolistic exploitation including price increases without any change in cable quality or programming, or internet speed.

  18. Its a great step in the right direction to have this Web site and take user feedback from all the people. What is also needed is a reporting mechanism by which government updates what it is doing about these ideas. Which one's are being looked at? Which one's have good chances of being implemented? A quarterly report will be good to have.

  19. Contract the folks @ Better Place and fund infrastructure for electric vehicles.

    • The grid could begin in and around the LA and NYC areas, spread up and down both coasts, and then spider web its way across the continental US via the insterstate highway system.

      • Also, the construction would help the ailing job market.

Measures such as these would IMMENSELY reduce our dependence upon foreign oil as well as help the economy and the environment.

Shai Agassi has outlined his plans for a greener worldwide future - check out what he and his colleagues @ Better Place are trying to…

  20. This secure ID could be used to not only vote but guard against vote fraud. Begin the trend to electronic voting not only for elections but on major pieces of proposed legislation, government planned regulations, serve as emergency medical information, secure logon, prevent identity theft, and be used to validate public services entitled to or received, prevent medicare fraud, etc.
