    Combine this with other suggestion re creation of a smart grid. This is what I was trying to get at -- it all needs to be interoperable, and use a mesh network to let local data stay local and get transmitted free, when it doesn't need to travel on anyone's built network infrastructure, but only travels between devices.

    Do this with open standards, open devices, and open networks (per my suggestion above), and do so my all time favorite: encourage development of an open source mesh so that all these devices can mesh and create a local p2p infrastructure of wireless databits and this takes my top vote.
