Also, most H1B visas are for highly skilled work. I have a bunch of friends who work for consulting, finance, etc. firms, and they make just as much money as the Americans. So I don't think companies are using H1B visas to "keep wages down". The best candidate should get the job regardless of origin. If Americans want those jobs they should make sure they're well-qualified - and they often aren't.

Oh man, you're so confused... In this video they're talking about GREEN CARDS not H1B visas. To get a green card through work you need to be at the company for several years on an H1B visa. If I'm an employer and I have a great employee who's worked for me for several years, don't you think it makes sense to keep him around instead of hiring a random American?

Where do you get the idea that companies use H1B visas to "keep wages down"? That's simply not true. Arranging for an H1B visa for an employee is incredibly difficult and very expensive. If a company could simply hire a US employee and avoid dealing with lawyers and the IRS, don't you think they would?

If anything, H1B visas should be easier to get to attract talented people to the US.
