Lower mortgage interest rates for all existing mortgages
Obama should have the interest rates on all existing mortgages lowered which would put more money in taxpayers wallets, which in turn would create true stimulus.

Use open standards to syndicate service opportunities
The new USAService.org website is a fine idea, but it's missing solving the real problem. There are already a ton of websites with volunteer opportunities (look at http://www.usaservice.org/page/content/opportunities/ to get a sample
of the number of them) - the real problem is that if you wanted to volunteer, you might have to spend a bunch of time searching all those websites, and you'd give up after awhile. That's the problem that needs to be solved. If all those websites would share their information with each other, then a search on any one of them would let you find the relevant…

Over Population. How Can Obama Curb This Global Threat?
The greatest global threat is the human evolutionary propencity for procreation leading to over population, on a exponential growth pattern.
Humans are the protectors and replicating slaves via sex of DNA and, will forever resist birth control. Even at the cost of future catastrophe.6 votes -
social security- reward for those who give it back
Many people receive social security without needing it. Why not reward those who wish to give it back? It would relieve pressures on the system. Perhaps a reward in the form of
a benefit credit towards inheritance taxes.
Thus, it would be a way for the rich to give more to their children and grandchildren.3 votes -
Create technologies that make useful comptuers
I come from the world of technology doing several startups (all sucessful) as well as working at Apple and Microsoft of both core operating system designs. I believe we need to invest in technologies that actually make computers and related devices useful for those that have no technology background. 1) creation of languages that do not have a programming paradigm 2) semantic intelligence and predictive analytics 3) grid computing ... The list is endless. The goal would be to never hear "I don't do computers". Well people do television for better or worse and the Internet is the new television;…

REWARD BUSINESSES NOT TAKING LAIDOFF/OFFSHORING ROUTES
SINCE MANY COMPANIES ARE NOW DOING LAIDOFF CAUSE OTHERS ARE DOING IT, FOR THOSE THAT CAN SUSTAIN THEIR EMPLOYEES SHOULD BE REWARDED WITH TAX BREAKS OR SOMETHING. AND IF THE COMPANY CAN AFFORD TO HIRE PEOPLE, WHY CAN'T THE COMPANY GET SOME AIDS FROM THE GOVERNMENT? WHY WAITING FOR THE COMPANY TO READY TO FILE BANKRUPTCY THEN HELP? BY THEN, COMPANY ALREADY IN TROUBLE AND ALREADY SENT THEIR EMPLOYEES OUT THE DOOR. ALSO, COMPANIES NOT DOING OFFSHORING SHOULD GET SOME BENEFITS AS WELL. OTHERWISE, MORE JOBS WILL GET CUT IN THE U.S.

Cancel Temporary Working Visas
While there is a lot of unemployed Highly Skill American workers please cancel the H1b and limit the L1 visas. This will also have an effect of encouraging students to take up engineering and Computer Science degrees. Invest in our own talent and we will get payback in Information Technology.

Reform
Reform the people, Teach them to tighten the belt, cut expenses especially credit card expenses, be responsible-for there own actions as will as the neighborhood around them. Be aware and turn in the violaters. Help me keep the snow cleared away from me mailbox and make those grocery bag manufactures quit making the common size plastic bags and make them the size to nicely line the inside of the bathroom and kitchen waste baskets.

Open fiber networks EU style rather than $$$ to incumbents
The current NewsWeek (mid-January) indicates the Obama team might tilt toward "the same old, same old" via tax incentives to incumbents like AT&T, Verizon and Comcast. Seemingly no awareness of the "open fiber" (to the premise) model shown so effective in EU and elsewhere. Worrisome!

Official Language
What of the idea of making English the Official Language of the United States ? An idea such as this wouldnt "outlaw" other languages spoken, but would serve to unite Americans under one common language used to conduct business in and with state, local and federal government agencies. And too this might reduce the costs that agencies incur in having to print forms, instructions etc in 500 different languages.

Public Eduation System
Its very interesting that so many people are voicing concerns about the public education system in America, and I agree wholeheartedly that the system is in SERIOUS need of an overhaul; however, it is NOT the sole responsibility of the public education system to teach children everything they need to know!! Where are the parents and communities and what are their roles in the education of children ? What is THEIR responsibility in this matter ? Is it not the responsibility of parents (and perhaps communities) to provide some fundamental educational basis upon which the public education system can build…
