Access to affordable health care
This is an economic issue, a moral issue, and for too many a life and death issue. It should be a top priority.

The Fair Deal - Not that you'd ever seriously consider it
Our government is the best that money can buy, literally. So long as it's "Government for the special interests, by the special interests, with an emotional crying game to the voters" we will experience a failed state era in 20 years...not that you'll care. You'll be long gone from Washington by then and will therefore be blame less. Ditto everyone in Congress.
My Fair Deal plan is simple - Remove the influence of special interests, dump the status quo tax system, and let the citizens decide for themselves how they want to live.
1 - A regressive, flat income tax.…

Consider John McCain as your Secretary of the Navy
Well, it would honor him. Didn't he wear that NAVY baseball cap when he was campaigning? And, that would put him at least on a par with his famous father and grandfather who were admirals - a rank he never reached. In fact, it they were still alive, he would outrank them - he would be their boss!
Not bad for a guy who graduated fourth from the bottom of his class at the academy.
Then, when he retired, a carrier could be named after him. It should be an oil fired steam turbine vessel - fueled by oil from…1 vote -

Aggregate all these Sites Telling Obama What to Do
I have noticed that there a group of sites that are using a rating system similar to Digg to find out what people want President Obama to do once he takes office. However, I have a few concerns and some suggestions to make your mission more successful.
I came to this realization while reading Alan Boyle’s article “Wired Whitehouse” that there are too many groups doing this with the plan of passing it on to the administration. Wouldn’t it be better to contact the administration and have these as one sister site to the transition site?

Obama Civil Rights
There are numerous issues that have appalled me about the Bush administration, but none more than the following:
- the support for torture and rendition
- the suppression of habeas corpus
- the gradual shrinking of the 4th amendment (i.e., FISA rewrite)Like it or not, these things happened largely because Democrats in Congress didn't stand up against them when they were briefed to select members of the House and Senate, and now that these tools/techniques/practices are in the hands of the law enforcement, intelligence, and defense agencies, there will be a real resistance to addressing these problems.

Policy change on subsidies for corporate farms
Shift the subsidies now given to corporate farms to emphasis on small farm operations. This would encourage these farmers to continue producing food rather that selling their land to subdividers.

Use of cybernetic systems tools and cyberspace in modeling
Using technology in general throughout the
Obama Administration is a good idea,
but to really think, plan and act effectively,
the President should have a "cybernetician"
in the White House. Norbert Wiener and
Stafford Beer, where are you now that Osama
needs you? A "cyber-cto" should be on the
agenda, along with a special network and website dealing with all the cyber-related issues that will come up.3 votes -

Use people that speak the local language overseas
I saw the republican representative in Germany trying to speak German and it was a disaster. Granted, the audience was not exactly pro-republican, but still. If the US had someone who could speak the language well I'm sure it would have made a better impression on the average person. Sound bites, etc. Making friends with the people we trade with is always smart.

Modernizing education from pre-school to college
Our education techniques need to utilize some of the latest techniques in technology, psychology, behavioral sciences, and physical sciences. Also, our education needs to be redirected to some of the modern and future needs in the society. Our universities are making this transition and so should the schooling at all levels.
